JUSTICE FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS.

Growing up we were told
“That good girls are not meant to be heard but seen”
We got filled like pots with words like
“Weakness is your currency embrace and own it”
“Because you are a dependency
Shower applause to the men
To carry them to their peak of their podiums
let the men be the kings
Because they know what’s best
they will listen to the silenced bricks
you have baked from your mouth
you don’t have to express yourself like peacocks

your haven is the home
we don’t expect you to be the lions
letting out the roars of decision making
but become elephants embedded with sharp memories
 never departing from your norms
like we said you’re not meant to be a leader
but you’re a home keeper

Even when hunger threatens your home
you’re not allowed to make that humanitarian action
instead cede to sexual exploitation, abuse and maybe premature marriages

but we are tired
worn out by these social commotions
determined to keep us locked like dragons
but we seek to have our own voice
among these baritone voice
we seek promotion of positive gender and social norms
to mold us from grass to grace
we seek a giveaway from our communities
to place equality of decision making at a gradient
we seek to be civic educated with political intelligence
we seek to have the beauty of that humanitarian right
and for those already holding the cup of leadership
we want the toxic insults, hate speeches, intimidation and physical abuse
to cease to flames
because we will spread like cancer
from all the corner of the earth
claiming back our rights
because we deserve an equal right to participation

There's a camouflaged leviathan monster tormenting young girls across the 28 districts in Malawi
A notable serpent that verbally abuses for it does not take any excuses but it uses its barbaric methods
to physically harm the majority of women
This uncivilized monster is called GBV
It exists here, there and everywhere
Married women are suffering for they were told marriage is about perseverance at last
Young girls getting raped and harassed
The perpetrators of GBV busy calculating their next move like they solving calculus
Then you will hear the sound of an ambulance
Another victim yet
A very young girl raped by her uncle
Look at you, Uncle
What have you done, Uncle?
You have killed her future
**At the Hospital the doctor says **
I and my medical experts tried our best but she was very young such that she was bleeding internally,
unfortunately, she is no longer with us
Grief------

GBV is a dangerous monster among us but together as one we can stand and fight against it
It starts with me
It starts with you
We can make change
We can change the nation
Fulfilling what Michael Jackson said "Let's make a better place for you and for me and the entire
universe "
